About Us

In The Beginning:

The Lone Star Amateur Baseball Association was founded in 1995 by David Griffin, Jim Bradberry and Sam Carpenter to provide an opportunity for baseball players 18-years old and under to play the best baseball possible. The initial year of play the league had 26 teams, 12 in the 16-Under Mickey Mantle Division and 14 in the 18-Under Connie Mack Division. During the last several years, Lone Star has had 50 to 60+ teams participating in league play.

League play is designed to accomplish several objectives: 1) provide flexibility in scheduling to allow teams to participate in invitational tournaments that are held during the course of the regular season; 2) to provide a level of competition commensurate with each team’s skill level; and 3) to provide opportunities for post-season play to the teams with winning records. The rules for play in the Association are the rules governing play under the auspices of the American Amateur Baseball Association as amended by vote of the managers.

League play begins in mid-May for 16U and in late May for 18U.   Each team will play a 16 game schedule in either Mickey Mantle League (16U) or Connie Mack League (18U).   Team rosters may have as many as 20 players, although most have 15-16 players. Each team and field is covered by a AABC supplemental insurance policy issued through K&K Insurance.  We have been very fortunate in securing both good fields to play on and good, energetic game officials
